💳 Managing Your Credits

What is a Credit?

An Alex credit represents an AI processing unit:

  • 1 credit corresponds to several thousand tokens (hundreds of words) of AI processing
  • 1 typical question consumes 5 to several tens of credits depending on its complexity

Consumption Breakdown

When you ask a question, credits cover:

  1. Pre-processing: Language detection, question analysis, orchestration
  2. Search: Queries in the vector database
  3. Generation: Complete response with context
Fair Billing

Pre-processing is always billed (even if the request fails), because it consumes AI processing resources.

Check Your Balance

Your credit balance is permanently visible:

In the Header

  • "X credits" badge next to your profile
  • Click it to open Settings

In Settings

  1. Click on ⚙️ (settings icon)
  2. "Available Credits" section
  3. Displays your exact balance
Insufficient Credits

When your balance reaches 0 credits, you can no longer ask questions. Alex will display a message inviting you to recharge.

Credit Notifications

Alex alerts you automatically:

  • ≤ 20 credits: High priority notification 🟠
  • = 0 credits: Critical notification 🔴

Savings

The more credits you buy, the lower the unit price. The Pro pack offers a 30% discount compared to the Starter pack.

Purchase Credits

Purchase Process

  1. Open Settings (⚙️)
  2. Click "Purchase Credits"
  3. Select a pack (Starter, Standard, or Pro)
  4. Click "Proceed to Payment"
  5. Redirect to Stripe (secure payment)
  6. Complete payment:
    • Credit card
    • Name, billing address
  7. Confirmation: Automatic return to Alex
  8. Credits added immediately to your account
Security

Payment is handled by Stripe, the global leader in online payments. Alex stores no banking data.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • ✅ Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • ✅ Apple Pay / Google Pay
  • ✅ European bank cards (SEPA)

Consumption History

View History

  1. SettingsCreditsHistory
  2. Displays the last 50 transactions (by default)

Available Information

For each transaction:

  • Date and time
  • Related conversation
  • Amount (positive = purchase, negative = consumption)
  • Balance after transaction
  • Description (action type)

Filter by Conversation

To see consumption for a specific conversation:

  • Parameter ?conversation_id=xxx in the URL
  • Or via interface (upcoming feature)

Purchase History

All your Stripe purchases are accessible:

  1. SettingsCreditsPurchases
  2. List of payment transactions
  3. Click on a transaction to see:
    • Stripe reference
    • Amount paid
    • Payment date
    • Credits added
    • Status (completed, cancelled, refunded)

Billing

Receive an Invoice

Invoices are automatically generated by Stripe:

  1. Confirmation email after payment
  2. Downloadable PDF from Stripe portal
  3. Contact billing@pmatsconsulting.com for any questions

Billing Information

To modify your information (address, VAT):

Automatic Recharge (Coming Soon 🚀)

An automatic recharge feature will be available soon:

  • Set a threshold (e.g., 100 credits)
  • Auto-recharge with a chosen pack
  • Email notification before recharge

Unused Credits

Credits never expire. You can use them at your own pace, with no time limit.

Credits FAQ

How many questions can I ask with 100 credits?

On average, 10 to 40 questions depending on complexity. A simple question (AL syntax) = ~2 credits, a complex question (multi-version comparison) = ~10 credits.

What happens if I run out of credits?

Alex will display an error message and a "Purchase Credits" button. Your existing conversations remain accessible in read-only mode.

Are credits shared between users?

No, each user has their own independent credit balance.

Can I gift credits to a colleague?

Not directly. Contact support for specific cases (team training, etc.).
