🚀 Getting Started with Alex

Welcome!

Alex is your AI assistant specialized in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the AL (Application Language) language. It can answer your technical questions, help you understand AL code, and guide you in developing Business Central extensions.

Create an Account

To start using Alex, you need to create an account:

  1. Go to the Alex homepage (click "← Back to Alex" in the navbar)
  2. Click "Login" in the header, then in the "Alex - Login" window, click "No account yet? Register"
  3. Fill in the form:
    • First and last name
    • Professional email address
    • Username (unique)
    • Password (minimum 10 characters, 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 special character)
  4. Accept the terms of use (mandatory reading until the end)
  5. Click "Sign Up"
Administrator Validation

Your account will be created with "Pending" status. An administrator must validate your account before you can use Alex. You will receive an email notification once your account is activated.

Initial Credits

Once your account is activated, you receive free credits to discover Alex! 🎁

What is a credit?

  • 1 credit corresponds to several thousand tokens (hundreds of words) of AI processing
  • A typical question consumes 1 to dozens of credits depending on its complexity
  • You can purchase additional credits at any time

First Message

Once logged in, you can ask your first question to Alex:

  1. Click in the input area at the bottom of the screen
  2. Type your question (e.g., "How to create a table in AL?")
  3. Press Enter or click the ✉️ icon

Alex will analyze your question and provide you with a detailed answer based on its knowledge of Business Central code.

Show Suggestions

If you don't know what to ask, click "Show suggestions" to see example questions and discover Alex's capabilities.

Alex's interface is simple and intuitive:

  • Header:

    • Alex logo (with explanatory tooltip)
    • Notifications icon 🔔
    • User menu (profile, credits, settings)
    • Help button 📖 (access to this documentation)
  • Left sidebar (conversations):

    • List of your saved conversations
    • "New conversation" button
  • Central area:

    • Messages from the current conversation
    • Input area at the bottom
  • Footer:

    • Copyright and version
    • Useful links
